Obduction – A Spiritual Successor to Myst Kickstarter Launched

Cyan, the company known best for Myst and single handedly creating the first person exploration/puzzle genre has launched a new campaign on Kickstarter to fund their newest idea, Obduction.

Obduction isn’t a sequel in the Myst series but rather a spiritual successor which, if funded, will explore a strange new alien landscape.

Obduction will be powered by the Unreal 4 Engine, so state-of-the-art visuals are to be expected.

Cyan is targeting a release window of mid-to-late 2015.

In an article I wrote a few months back, Five Genres that deserve a comeback, I lamented about the lack of “Myst-clones” but with this exciting development it seems that Cyan is endeavoring to update their multi-award winning formula to modern day design conventions.

I for one am excited about the prospect of being able to pull a lever and then have nothing happen

…But if I press the button before I pull the lever…
…after the gauge reads 50% then I get buzzing noise…
…if the pilot light is on…
…then rotate counterclockwise 45 degrees until…

But I digress. You should head over to the Obduction Kickstarter page and check out the available information and consider donating!
