Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference Recap

 

Nintendo used their usual charm to announce game after game. It would have been nice if they spent a little more time on certain titles, but we got mostly what we wanted. The absence of Zelda WiiU was definitely felt, but a strong briefing nonetheless. Here is a recap of Nintendo’s E3 press conference.

StarFox Zero

StarFox WiiU got an official subtitle and substantial gameplay footage. Fox’s famous ship the Arwing is more powerful than ever, being able to transform into a walker form and the drone-like GyroWing mode, with the Landmaster making a return as well. StarFox Zero promises to have classic boss battles, motion control and a cockpit view by use of the Gamepad. StarFox Zero will be available this holiday 2015 for the WiiU.

Super Mario Maker

Flex those creative muscles

Nintendo’s big holiday title is Super Mario Maker. Giving players the tools to create their very own Mario stages from all the favorite art styles. Stages can be shared globally for all to tinker with and customize themselves. Super Mario Maker will have their own 8-bit Amiibos fully compatible, along with full fledged Amiibo support. Players can use compatible Amiibos to have 8-bit versions of their Amiibo appear as skins for Mario.

Skylanders Superchargers

Activision is developing 2 special Skylanders that can double as Amiibos. Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser function as Skylanders in Skylanders Superchargers and Amiibos in compatible Nintendo games.

Zelda Triforce Heroes

The next top-down Zelda adventure will be on the 3DS. Centered around 3-player co-op, Triforce Heroes puts the emphasis on local or online teamwork, players can also play solo. Characters collect items to dress themselves, creating new costumes that each give different abilities. Some costumes may let you lift giant bombs, while others may give a new sword slash move. Zelda Triforce Heroes launches Fall 2015 for the 3DS.

Hyrule Warriors Legends

Hyrule Warriors Legends is coming to the 3DS in the form of Legends. The re-imagining will include all DLC characters with the addition of fan favorites from The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. Hyrule Warriors is expected to launch for the 3DS early 2016.

Metroid Prime Federation Force

A shooting game with the title of Metroid, but don’t expect anything cannon to be in this game. The first-person shooter has 4 player co-op missions in addition to Blast Ball, a mini game that pits two teams of 3 against each other as they shoot a ball into the opposing teams net. Metroid Prime Federation Force will launch early 2016 for the 3DS.

Fire Emblem Fates

The newest Fire Emblem entry got a new title for it’s Western launch along with a shiny new trailer that showed off both cinematics and gameplay. Fire Emblem Fates will be available for Western audiences 2016.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem

The all Japanese trailer didn’t do much to explain what the cross over exactly is for those who don’t know. Aside from any actual information regarding the JRPG, we got a new trailer and a 2016 release date.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

The next Xenoblade was introduced through a new trailer, will be available for the WiiU December 4 2015.

Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing New Leaf is getting it’s first expansion in Happy Home Designer. Players use purchased cards to implement designs in game to decorate houses and buildings. A new Animal Crossing games was also announced, Animal Crossing Festival is a party game that borrows ideas from the long standing Mario Party franchise. Festival has characters from the Animal Crossing universe move around a board while competing in mini games and earning points. New Animal Crossing Amiibos will be fully compatible.

Yoshi’s Wooly World

Cuteness overload

The adorable Yoshi’s Wooly World will have a 2 player co-op feature, letting players decide if they want to help each other or compete. Yoshi’s Wooly World will have full Amiibo compatibility, players can use compatible characters to dress Yoshi to look like the respective Amiibo. Wooly World launches for the WiiU October 16 2015.

Yo-Kai Watch

The popular JRPG is coming to the west. Fans can expect a Pokemon-like experience of capturing and battling creatures this holiday season.

Mario and Luigi Paper Jam

Mixing the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi rpg franchises to create a brand new game for the 3DS is an excellent idea. No release date was given.

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash

Mario’s next tennis outing will be available holiday 2015 for the WiiU.
