It has been years since Blizzard Entertainment announced a new franchise. At BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment revealed Overwatch, a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter.
Overwatch is a pick-up-and-play first-person shooter featuring cast of heroes in all-new game universe:
“The action of Overwatch takes place in a technologically advanced, highly stylized future earth. In a time of global crisis, an international task force of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities known as Overwatch had come together to restore peace to a war-torn world. After many years, the group’s influence waned, and it was eventually disbanded. Overwatch might be gone now . . . but the world still needs heroes.”
Looking from the released gameplay trailer, Overwatch seems to be fast-paced game with quick grappling mechanics, flying, teleporting and speedy ground traversal. In addition, Overwatch mixes technology and magic as there is spellcasting present as well as robots that can turn themselves into turrets.
While no release date for Overwatch has been set, Blizzard’s Chirs Metzen has stated that Overwatch is coming “sooner than you think”. The beta is coming in 2015 and you can already apply for it here.
