Dead Island: Riptide
Release Date: April 23, 2013
Platform: Xbox 360
…more than just a simple retelling of the first installment
Serving as a direct continuation of Techland’s 2011 action role-playing title, Dead Island: Riptide shipwrecks our zombie-dismembering survivors on the monsoon stricken island of Palanai after a series of chaotic events turn the military ship they once occupied into an undead nightmare. More than just a simple retelling of the first installment, this latest entry in the series incorporates dynamic weather and flooding mechanics that hope to add consistently changing environments into the melee-centric mix. With the welcome ability to carry over your particular character’s level and skills, the return of four-player cooperative play, and the addition of a new fisticuffs-experienced survivor named John Morgan, Dead Island: Riptide seems on track to provide undead slayers with a highly-polished, action-packed experience when it releases.
