Over the last generation, in which area have games most advanced?

Video game story telling may have gotten better…but it’s going to be a while before we finally get to consistent story telling.

Video games having bad stories seem to be the rule rather than the exception, but when the exceptions do come along, they can really shine, and not just because it was a good story for a video game. But for every exception, you can find an endless supply of games having an excuse plot with one note characters and horrible writing(I just got through playing Max Payne 3, it had good gameplay and great graphics, but the story in the game was awful. It had some clever bits in the dialogue, but it checks out on the problems I’ve mentioned earlier).

We’ll get there one of these days though.

I think we’ve improved most with graphics, as with each generation, there has been a major graphical jump. This generation doesn’t seem like it’s going to take as big as a leap the other generations. Maybe, from now, we’ll just see gradual improvements rather than giant steps.

Maybe that’ll finally give us time to actually focus on story telling.

One could hope at least.
