Check out our writers picks for most anticipated titles of February!
Dead Space 3
Release Date: February 5
Platform: PC, Xbox 360, PS3
Stretch
It’s hard to ignore the disappointing transition the Dead Space series has made from a moody horror franchise into what I can comfortably call the action genre. Yet, the games have certainly not been terrible, and with new cover systems, co-op and supposedly improved game play, there’s no reason Dead Space 3 won’t be a barrel of creepy, squishy fun.
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Release Date: February 12
Platform: PC, Xbox 360, PS3
GideonKain
A first person shooter by Gearbox Software which aims to faithfully reproduce the look and feel of one of the seminal scifi action movies ever to be conceived? Yes please!
I am a huge fan of James Cameron’s classic movie, Aliens. Every time I see that it’s airing on TV I can’t help but tune in and watch. So many memorable characters, dialog (Game Over, Man!) and scenes. Numerous games throughout the years have adapted elements from this film so it’s exciting to finally see an officially licensed game that seeks to recreate the tense and highly creative experience that spawned such franchises as Doom, Halo and Gears of War.
Rayman Legends
Release Date: Month 5
Platform: Xbox 360, PS3

Rayman Legends is one of our most anticipated new releases of 2013. Released exclusively for the Wii U, direct sequel to Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends will have the same style of gameplay in which multiple players run, jump, punch and kick their way through tricky levels. The demo, which can be downloaded from Wii U’s eShop, not only demonstrates some fun use of Nintendo’s Gamepad controller but left stupid grins to our faces.
Crysis 3
Release Date: Feb. 19
Platform: PC, Xbox 360, PS3
Rob
Crysis 2 was plenty of fun, but it felt like someone had hired a babysitter. The original Crysis stuck me alone in a sandbox filled with toys and goodies. “Have fun!” it said with a wave as it went back in the house to finish watching Dallas. No parental supervision needed. The second game sacrificed this freedom for razz-ma-tazz action scenes and a Z-grade plot. I want to play dodgeball with chickens and be able to strap C4 to a truck and drive it into a radio tower again. Is that too much to ask? The glimmer of hope that this might be a proper Crysis game is the only reason I’ve got it on here. Pretty please, Crytek?
