Planetside 2 is a massively multiplayer online first person shooter (Thank goodness for acronyms) that was released a few months back and has enjoyed a very positive reception in the gaming community.
Now the successful MMOFPS can add another letter to it’s genre nomenclature: a C for competitive.

Today, Sony Online Entertainment and the world’s largest eSports league Major League Gaming (MLG) announced a partnership. Over their year-long collaboration they will expand the property by including original broadcast programming, online competition and presence at MLG events.
I really enjoyed Planetside 2 (9.0). It’s massive scale and astounding amount of simultaneous active participants allows you to experience an extremely chaotic and visceral take on futuristic infantry combat. With the extra distinction of becoming a legitimate eSport for Pro Gamers to compete in I can see Planetside 2′s popularity growing exponentially.
My only question is how do they divvy up prize money when there are 600 people on your team?!
