5 Reasons to Try Prototype 2

Feature, PC, PS3, Xbox 360 ‣ 5 Reasons to Try Prototype 2

Prototype 2 is arriving as one of the hottest titles of April. It promises to bring us an explosive and gore-filled open-world experience. Before we continue, be sure to take a quick look at the trailer below.

If you haven’t familiarized yourself with the Prototype series so far, here is a summary: Prototype is an open-world game set in New York, starring a man who was infected by a virus, allowing him to twist his body into destructive weapons, as well as morph into the shape of others which allowed him to copy the appearance, skills, and powers of anyone he came across. Add some mindless destruction, gore and explosion and we have Prototype.

The first Prototype received decent reviews, with main issues being the replay-value and graphics. Now that the developers have decided to give the series another go, here are 5 things to expect in the sequel:

New Protagonist – Role reversal

Following the events of Prototype, we now hop into the boots of Sgt. James Heller, an infected soldier craving revenge on the man he blames for the death of his family. That man is Alex Mercer. This means that the protagonist of Prototype is the antagonist of Prototype 2.

The setting is juicy enough to give us some interesting twists in terms of the actual story. Changing the main character is a bold move, but after some complaints of the character being shallow, this might just Prototype 2’s cure for a deeper storyline. We hope that the developers have put some effort here, making the main character and the story worth our time.

Mayhem and Desctruction

Taking on monsters and military in whichever way I please, lies at the core of Prototype. The open world – leaves us a lot of opportunities to cause mayhem – be it tearing limbs apart, giving tanks some roundhouse kicks or even jumping directly onto a chopper only to snap it in half with laughter.

Watching New York crumble as you wreak havoc may just be the most entertaining this Prototype 2 has to offer. It surely seems like it.

Take down choppers

Your style

One of the signature abilities of the game is shapeshifting. But luckily, it is not just about choosing from a few transformation options. Sgt. James Heller can combine abilities between forms so that you can choose something for your liking.

Relaxing into your own style of playing a game has always been fun. We’re eager to see to what extent we can push it in Prototype 2.

Combat and abilities

The game’s forte is most likely going be its combat. The first Prototype offered a lot of explosions, but Prototype 2 extends that a little. This means that tail rotors from choppers can be ripped off and you can also give similar treatment to tank turrets and use them as baseball bats etc.

We hope that Heller’s new abilities and enhancements on the fighting system will provide us a truly fun time dealing punishment.

The whole experience

Prototype 2 looks on its predecessor and attempts to bring the best out of it. If Activision and Radical Entertainment fix the gameplay flaws that hurt the original and add a deeper storyline, then Prototype 2 will be a game which works so well that it shouldn’t be missed.

Expect a review from the site soon.

the games story line made me miss being the lost confused amnesiac alex mercer and fighting agianst the goverment that treated you like a science experiment because in the first game mercer seemed innocent and kind of like a losst kid with no idea where he was or what was going on. But this game his personality did a complete overhaul and he became ruthless and immposibly incompitent
